During April and May 2025, Dr. Anđelo Beletić spent his secondment at the Clinical Biochemistry, Drug Delivery & Therapy (CB-DDT) Group at Institut de Recerca (VHIR), Fundació Hospital Universitari Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona. Over his stay, he expanded his theoretical understanding and hands-on experience in key EV isolation techniques (density gradient ultracentrifugation, immunocapture, and tangential flow filtration followed by size exclusion chromatography), quantification (flow cytometry) and preparation for downstream analyses.
In collaboration with the Project Coordinator and his VHIR supervisor, Dr. Joaquin Seras Franzoso (PI), Anđelo designed a study to broaden the evaluation of how different EV isolation methods may affect glycome composition. As part of the "Vall d'Hebron Talks by VHIR" series, he gave a presentation titled "Deciphering the IgG Glycome – The "Sweet" Pathway from Molecular Fundamentals to Translational Research".
During his secondment, Anđelo also visited the Clinical Biochemistry Service and had productive discussions with CB-DDT researchers and other VHIR groups, which laid the groundwork for future collaborations, particularly around incorporating glycomics into ongoing and upcoming research initiatives.
