Vanja Stevanović from the Institute for Oncology and Radiology of Serbia (IORS) visited Vall d'Hebron Institut de Recerca (VHIR). During her two-month research stay, Vanja Stevanović focused on establishing and stabilizing lung cancer cell lines (A549) transduced with lentiviral constructs designed to express fluorescent markers for extracellular vesicle (EV) isolation. Her work included transfecting HEK293 cells to produce lentiviral particles, which were then used to transduce A549 cells.
The main goal was to evaluate different protocols for EV isolation, and Vanja contributed to optimizing protocols involving tangential flow filtration (TFF) and size exclusion chromatography (SEC). In addition, she gained hands-on experience with advanced techniques in cell culture, lentiviral production, microscopy, and flow cytometry, supporting the goal of selecting the most efficient method for EV analysis in cancer research.
