EXPAND-EV at UMOS-SDIR Liquid Biopsy Colloquium

The first UMOS-SDIR Colloquium on Liquid Biopsy in Oncology, organized by the Association of Medical Oncologists of Serbia (UMOS) and the Serbian Association for Cancer Research (SDIR) was held on February 26, 2025.

The colloquium provided a forum for experts to discuss the challenges associated with liquid biopsy, arising from the continuous advancements in cancer research and clinical oncology, as well as potential solutions that have not yet been incorporated into official recommendations or adopted into international and national clinical practice.

Participants of the meeting emphasized the technological advancements and outlined future steps for more precise monitoring of the biology of malignant tumors and treatment responses, using lung and colorectal cancer as models. As a result of the meeting, the directions for future collaborative efforts were established to develop a clear national strategy for the clinical application of liquid biopsy in oncology in Serbia.

Members of EXPAND-EV from IORS participated as chairs, moderators, lecturers, and attendees, providing detailed insights into the integration of liquid biopsies into clinical oncology practice in Serbia.
