Dr. Milena Čavić's lecture on Screening and Early detection of Lung Cancer in Serbia: opportunities and challenges

Dr. Milena Čavić from partner IORS participated as an Invited Lecturer at the “Precision Public Health and Innovative Approaches in Cancer Prevention: Implications for Public Health Policy” meeting organized on Sept 3, 2025, by the Red Cross Serbia and the School of Medicine, University of Belgrade, Serbia. The event emphasized the importance of integrating innovative approaches into public health policy, thereby opening new directions for the development of cancer prevention and early detection.


Dr. Čavić presented insights into early detection and screening of lung cancer, elaborating on current opportunities and challenges. Project EXPAND-EV was highlighted as a European effort contributing to methodological advancements in the field. As translating evidence-based scientific knowledge into public health policy is a process that requires the application of specific skills and advocacy tools, it was discussed how traditional and innovative solutions for the prevention and early detection of oncological diseases might be more easily available to everyone in the general population.
