Lidija Filipović at the EACR Liquid Biopsy Congress
Lidija Filipovic participated in the EACR Liquid Biopsy Congress, held in Lyon, France, from 22 to 24 September 2026, where she presented a poster titled “Improving Extracellular Vesicle Isolation for Liquid Biopsy Using a Nanobody-Functionalized Magnetic Platform”, featuring research supported by the EXPAND-EV project.
The work focused on developing and evaluating a magnetic nanoparticle platform functionalised with VHH nanobodies for the immunoaffinity isolation of extracellular vesicles (EVs) from human plasma. The platform combines selective recognition by nanobodies with convenient magnetic separation to address the challenges of EV isolation from complex biological samples.
The isolated EVs were characterised using nanoparticle tracking analysis, flow cytometry, atomic force microscopy, and protein and lipid quantification. Results showed characteristic particle size, morphology, and EV-associated surface markers, supporting the potential of this platform for EV isolation and further development of liquid biopsy workflows.
