As part of the EXPAND-EV project, Joaquin Seras Franzoso from the Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) completed a research secondment at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), focused on the proteomic analysis of extracellular vesicles (EVs) derived from triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) models, including cancer stem cell and bulk tumor populations. This training provided hands-on expertise across the complete proteomics workflow, from data curation and statistical analysis to visualization and interpretation while also generating a preliminary panel of EV-associated proteins with potential diagnostic value.

Beyond the technical training, the secondment fostered valuable scientific exchanges between Vall d'Hebron Research Institute researchers with colleagues at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), opening opportunities for future collaborations . These activities exemplify the added value of research mobility within EXPAND-EV, combining skills development, data generation and international collaboration to advance the identification of extracellular vesicle signatures with potential relevance for cancer diagnostics.
