As part of the staff exchange programme, Eirini Kyriakopoulou from the Hellenic Pasteur Institute (HPI) undertook a two-month secondment at the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Research (VHIR) in Barcelona. Her training focused on the generation of fluorescent extracellular vesicles (EVs), with an emphasis on gaining hands-on experience in EV isolation and characterization techniques.

This secondment marked a significant step forward in Eirini's technical development, providing her with new expertise in EV workflows. In addition, through regular lab meetings and group discussions, Eirini gained valuable insight into VHIR’s broader research themes. This experience not only enhanced her skills and knowledge but also deepened her understanding of the role of EVs in cellular communication and their potential applications in cancer diagnostics and therapy.
