Iwona Borošak from partner Genos has recently completed a one-month secondment at NKUA, where she focused on improving methods for the proteomic analysis of extracellular vesicles (EVs). Her main goal was to develop an efficient protocol for EV lysis and protein extraction, an important step toward understanding proteome changes in these small but significant biological particles.

During her stay, Iwona gained valuable hands-on experience and deepened her theoretical knowledge of proteomic workflows. She explored different analytical techniques, learning about their strengths and limitations, and how sample handling can impact the quality of downstream analysis.

Working with EV samples provided by Diego from the University of Barcelona, Iwona tested and refined several existing protocols under the guidance of the host laboratory team. Her collaboration with Diego led to a productive exchange of expertise and contributed to improving the overall consistency and reliability of EV proteomic analyses.
