Nikol Mraz from partner GENOS spent a month at UNG, as part of the EXPAND-EV project. During the secondment, Nikol participated in laboratory activities focused on acquiring both fundamental and more advanced techniques in molecular biology and biochemistry, with a particular emphasis on methods relevant to extracellular vesicle (EV) research.

Nikol became familiar with cell culture procedures and took part in the preparation and maintenance of experimental systems that form the basis for EV isolation and analysis. She also gained practical experience in plasmid DNA isolation, including sample preparation and basic processing steps, which are important for downstream molecular approaches in vesicle research. In addition, Nikol was introduced to the principles and application of liquid chromatography using the ÄKTA system, where she participated in biomolecule purification procedures that can be applied to the characterization and functionalization of EVs.
